A new variety of national flower of Singapore(Orchid), has been named after Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan on 7th, Nov 2015 to commemorate President Xi’s state visit to Singapore.

The naming ceremony was officially held in Singapore Botanic Gardens by Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong and his wife.

Along with “Papilionanda Xi Jinping-Peng Liyuan”, there have already been about 200 distinguished guest orchids registered so far, such as the ones for the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and his wife, the Vice President of the US Joe Biden and his wife and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
